Would barely crack 65 mph. I had 2, an 87, and a 94. Had fantastic torque and would pull like a freight train. The entire trucks both rotted away, and almost every thing else broke or fell off, but that 300 six drive train would never break. Leak oil? Oh hell yes, but never break.

My 1996 Ford F150 has the 4.9 inline 6 with 235000 miles on it. Starts every day. Runs great. Just put a new thermostat in it... had been overheating for about 2 months. This motor is impossible to destroy.

When they discontinued it they decided it was time to go out of business!

It was like 1996 maybe a few years later but they were definitely done well before 2016

4th best motor in the world. Runs like stupid good and torque just like a desile and sounds just like a diesel with the headers of. This motor is crazy torque. It’s just like a 5.9 desil but it 4.9 gaser I have 1993 obs= older body style. Works good very good. Not greatest on gas tho. But I can’t stand listening to that power steering. U can hear a ford coming just from power steering.
